NEW RANGEFINDER WITH ID TECHNOLOGY INTRODUCED BY NIKON
Nikon has announced a new laser rangefinder for 2008 that is engineered specifically for hunters who pursue big game with a rifle or other firearm.
The new RifleHunter 550 Laser Rangefinder combines Nikon’s trademark speed, accuracy and simplicity with Tru-Target technology designed to give hunters the confidence to make long-range shots—especially in difficult situations such as shooting up a mountainside or down into a canyon.
Nikon’s advanced ID Technology compensates for various incline or decline shooting angles—up to a± 89-degreesof angle, providing the estimated distance that the bullet will actually travel. The hunter simply aims, pushes the button and plans the shot according to the displayed distance.
The new RifleHunter 550 displays distances in 1/5-yard (.2 yard) increments under 100 yards when in ID mode and ½-yard (.5 yard) increments under 100 yards in standard mode. Beyond 100 yards, the 550 Rangefinder displays in one-yard increments.
According to Jon LaCorte, Senior Product Marketing Manager for Nikon, “We engineered this rangefinder to do the things that rifle hunters, in particular, need it to do. It’s fast, accurate, compact, ergonomic, waterproof/fogproof—and above all, it helps take the guesswork out of long distance shooting. When used with our patented BDC riflescope reticles, it becomes the ultimate system for hunters who want to increase their long range shooting effectiveness.”
